JOB SUMMARY:

The Specialist is accountable for the engineering delivery of distribution capital programs. As a member of SaskPower\'s management team, this position is responsible to provide capital program leadership including distribution design expertise, administrative monitoring & controlling, training and technical support. This position will also be involved in business facing functions such as process optimization, technical innovation, and cross-departmental collaboration.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Lead and provide oversight to the engineering delivery of distribution capital programs which include design for urban underground (incl ductbank, manholes, vaults, switches and transformers), urban overhead and rural underground/overhead distribution
  • Internal/external stakeholder management to remove program roadblocks, maintain good working business relationships and align SaskPower\'s interests with external stakeholders\'
  • Provide program specific training, assistance, coaching, and support to develop the technical capabilities of internal and external design staff
  • Lead and/or provide subject matter expertise in cross-functional business projects as well as process, organizational and technology change initiatives
  • Identify, develop, modify, and implement business solutions and innovations that improve the engineering delivery of the capital programs
  • Maintain knowledge of social and environmental pressures and their impact on SaskPower distribution. Stay current on industry trends, technologies and design best practices and adapt them to SaskPower\'s operational environment
  • Provide leadership and direction to project teams and/or assigned staff as required
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Degree in Engineering, Journeyperson Certificate, Diploma in Technology, or other related equivalent AND/OR;
  • Related professional designation(s) and/or certification(s) AND/OR;
  • Five (5) years of related experience contract oversight including experience in planning facilities and providing instruction specific to design, construction, operations, commissioning, contract management and coordination of projects
  • Team player with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships both internal and external to SaskPower
  • Results oriented thinker, with the ability to manage and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism
  • Excellent analytical, research and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work and manage in a changing environment
  • Excellent facilitation, project management and decision making skills
  • Ability to foster a culture focused on safety, innovation and teamwork
  • Demonstrated skill in SaskPower\'s competencies
  • Must have a continuing record of professional development
  • Valid Class 5 driver\'s licence
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered
