About the TalentED Greater Calgary Project:





The Province of Alberta is working in partnership with the Government of Canada to provide employment support programs and services. TalentED Greater Calgary will generate work-based learning opportunities for youth ages 18-24 by engaging small to medium-sized businesses and non-profits across the greater Calgary region. This project will increase employer engagement with youth and apply an innovative and collaborative approach.

Job Summary





The

Specialist, Community Engagement

will be the primary point of contact for community organizations, such as youth employment centres, and post-secondary institutions (PSIs) for TalentED Greater Calgary. The Specialist will work closely with collaborators to coordinate skills development programming and job search support for youth, such as artificial intelligence (AI) bootcamps and competency assessments, to help prepare youth for work-based learning (WBL) opportunities. They will act as a conduit between PSIs and Employer Engagement Specialists for prospecting WBL opportunities.



This is a full-time contract position with a minimum in-office requirement of 3 days a week.




Key Responsibilities





Community Engagement


Establish and maintain trusting relationships with community organizations and PSIs to create aligned skills development programming for youth within greater Calgary. Coordinate with collaborators to organize and deliver AI bootcamps, skills development workshops, competency assessments, and credentialling for youth. Coordinate with collaborators to ensure job search support availability (e.g. resume reviews, interview preparation, career planning) to complement skills training activities. Refer youth to established job search support resources as needed. Coordinate with team to track completion rates and follow-up for competency assessments. Ensure community engagement is inclusive and responsive to the needs of marginalized or underrepresented groups throughout interactions with stakeholders.




Placement Coordination


Coordinate PSI requests for assistance with prospecting WBL opportunities (e.g. projects, apprenticeships). Outreach and receive requests for WBL opportunities and relay needs/priority industry areas to Employer Engagement Specialists for prospecting. Analyze information from community employment centres and PSIs on program offerings and youth. Work with Employer and Community Engagement team to better understand complementary skills development activities for youth. Make connections between requests from employers on potential talent needs and potential youth/programs. Regularly communicate with Employer Engagement Specialists to support WBL placement opportunities. Identify challenges or concerns raised by community organizations or PSIs and work with TalentED Secretariat and stakeholders to address concerns.




Resource Development


Identify, create and maintain resources and reference materials for skills development programming for youth. Identify concerns or areas of improvement for developed catalogues, templates, and tools. Coordinate with Operations and Technology team to implement improvements to catalogues, templates, and tools.




Data Collection


Track collaborating community organizations and PSIs in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. Support with coordination of additional events as it relates to engaging the community and increasing WBL placements; collect attendance and community feedback from events to support project goals. Coordinate with Operations and Technology team to develop surveys for youth and community stakeholders. Collect project feedback and determine areas for continuous improvement.

Education





Post secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field e.g. Career Development, Human Resources, Education.



CPHR designation considered an asset.

Experience





Minimum 3 years of experience in work-based learning, career development, workforce development, or talent development.



Previous experience working at or collaborating with post-secondary institutions.

Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
