  • This position provides the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays each week, with the requirement to report to the primary NOVA Chemicals work location on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Employees can opt out of the hybrid schedule and will be expected to work Monday-Friday from the primary work location.

Together we can create a better, more circular tomorrow.NOVA Chemicals, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is wholly-owned by Mubadala Investment Company of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.We are seeking a Specialist, Commercial Logistics join our North American Commercial Logistics Team and play a key role in the ongoing success of our Logistics function. In this role you will support the day-to-day activities of the North American Commercial Logistics team through the effective management of rail rates and routes. This role is critical in enabling the on-time and accurate shipments of railcars. You will collaborate cross-functionally to create rail routes for NOVA Chemicals\' rail business and support data driven KPIs in alignment with logistics and supply chain strategies.You Will Use Your Expertise To:
  • Manage end-to-end daily rail rate and route requests through a shared inbox
  • Create and maintain accurate and timely rate and route management in SAP and GVP systems for all rail business
  • Work with a broad spectrum of teams across the supply chain to ensure orders are shipped in a timely, cost effective and efficient manner to improve delivery performance to our customers
  • Provide accurate and timely responses to the Sales and Customer Experience team to support efficient order fulfillment
  • Identify and track opportunities for rail freight cost savings and avoidances, capturing in monthly reporting data
  • Key analytical and tactical support for major rail contract negotiations
  • Perform monthly reporting as required to support cross-functional business KPIs and Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) data requirements
  • Perform cost analyses to support Commercial Logistics and business decisions
  • Collaborate with Logistics Operations team to tactically manage supply chain disruption events
  • Troubleshoot routing issues working with Rail Schedulers to ensure timely and accurate shipments
  • Provide and/or arrange statutory holiday/vacation coverage with backup
  • Maintain documented processes for areas of responsibility and updates as needed
What We Are Looking For:
  • University graduate or equivalent with 5-7 years of related experience and continued professional development; OR 10+ years combination of post-secondary education and related experience and continued professional development
  • Strong knowledge of SAP, TMS, Power Point, Business Objects and Excel
  • Strong analytical skills with proven track record in problem solving.
  • Strong knowledge of the transportation industry, specifically railroads, would be considered an asset
  • Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Commercial experience in negotiating with railroads would be considered an asset
  • Background in root cause and financial analysis a plus
  • Ability and confidence to drive change
  • Continuous improvement mindset

  • Must have proven time management, organizational, and prioritization skills

  • Relocation will be considered to the nearest geographical NOVA Chemicals\' location for this position
  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
  • This role requires up to 10% travel
