ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Specialist, Azure Cloud Operations to join the Power Factors CloudOps team supporting our Ekhosoft SaaS products. In the role, you will work to ensure the cloud infrastructure is running properly, efficiently, and securely. As a SaaS provider to some of the leading industrial companies, the Ekhosoft platform must be available and able to scale with our customers\' growing demands. Currently, the Power Factors cloud infrastructure consists of multiple Azure subscriptions for various environments with a diverse collection of resources and technologies. Within these subscriptions, Power Factors is using a variety of Azure services such as Virtual Networks and VPNs, Virtual Machines, App Services, Storage Accounts, and Azure Cosmo DB to name a few. In addition to ensuring the infrastructure is running properly, this position involves scripting and automating new deployments for these resources within Azure to support application updates, disaster recovery, and new customer onboardings.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Administration for Microsoft Azure Subscriptions during Canadian daytime hours
  • Deploy, document and configure compliant services and resources in Azure
  • Ensure network connectivity and security within the cloud infrastructure
  • Use Terraform to create and update Azure resources and ensure version control of infrastructure
  • Assist development teams troubleshoot problems, determine root cause, and deploy solutions
  • Deploy, automate, maintain GitHub Actions pipelines for production and testing systems
  • Adhere to release and change configuration policies for production systems as required
  • Work with devs to ensure system monitoring for all Azure components to ensure availability, performance, scalability, and security of all production and testing systems
  • Ensure backup and disaster recovery of all Azure resources
  • Ensure maintenance, documentation, and access controls to the servers, applications, and tools are in accordance with our SOC2 certification
  • Be part of the cloud operations emergency support team as required
  • Assist with annual penetration tests conducted by third parties
  • Monitor system resource usage to ensure costs are minimized where applicable
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Specifically, we are looking for someone with the following toolbox:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in computer science, software engineering or in a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of significant Cloud work experience - ideally with Microsoft Azure
  • Ability to learn, analyze, and problem solve technical issues and work with limited supervision
  • Experience with Agile and DevOps concepts and working as part of a scrum team
  • Experience with GitHub Actions and YAML for CI/CD
  • Experience in deploying and updating Azure resources with Terraform
  • Knowledge of system monitoring in a cloud environment for performance, security, and cost analysis
  • Possess and demonstrate general understanding of TCP/IP network communications and VPNs in Azure
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases and administration
  • Administrating Windows Servers and Operating Systems
  • Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
