Our Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) team directly contributes to these goals through the management of purchased applications. Our values are safety, openness, collaboration and accountability.The Genetec Specialist works as a member of the COTS team to manage the physical security solution through its lifecycle: concept, evaluation, implementation, maintenance, enhancement and decommission. The Genetec Specialist will also be assigned and assortment of other COTS applications to support.The COTS team at SaskPower works closely with other teams to ensure the solutions are meeting business requirements and needs. The team is responsible to ensure that the technical environments are up to date and operating effectively and securely.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Identify new business solutions and operational efficiencies, while providing recommendations which have a significant impact on SaskPower\'s business operations and strategies
  • Lead and/or participate in cross-functional projects to provide functional expertise for corporate and departmental strategic planning initiatives
  • Represent the department and prepare and present material to internal and external audiences as required
  • Maintain knowledge of industry developments and best practices related to area of specialization and adapt them to SaskPower\'s operational environment
  • Provide leadership and direction to project teams and/or assigned staff as required
  • Manage the Genetec physical security solution:
  • Maintain the existing application, perform upgrades, resolve incidents, and resolve problems
  • Collaborate and interact with interdisciplinary teams to identify and resolve issues, review enhancements, and complete projects and new implementations.
  • Follow industry best practices in the planning, execution and implementation of COTS solutions in general.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or other related equivalent AND/OR;
  • Related professional designation(s) and/or certification(s) AND/OR;
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience installing, supporting and enhancing a variety of applications on different technical platforms. People with experience with the Genetec solution will be given preference.
  • Team player with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships both internal and external to SaskPower
  • Results oriented thinker, with the ability to manage and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism
  • Excellent analytical, research and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent facilitation, and decision making skills
  • Ability to foster a culture focused on safety, innovation and teamwork
  • Demonstrated skill in SaskPower\'s competencies
  • Must have a continuing record of professional development
  • Broad understanding and experience with Microsoft Windows and other Microsoft technologies
  • Breadth of exposure to application architectures and tools
  • Knowledge of and experience with server administration (Windows, Linux)
  • Knowledge of Oracle and MS SQL databases and SQL scripting
  • Web administration using IIS and Apache Tomcat. Installing certificates for .NET and Java applications
  • Scripting Experience (i.e., Bash, Python, PowerShell, JavaScript) and automation tools
  • Ability to work with a team as well as independently to complete deliverables within established timelines
  • Technical consulting experience utilizing desktop tools.
  • Proven testing skills and techniques.
  • Able to function within a high level of activity (working with deadlines on several concurrent initiatives)
