This is a Term position for a duration of 6 months

Reporting to the AOG Manager, the AOG (Aircraft On Ground) Specialist is responsible for the coordination of all activities, including sourcing, researching and expediting materials / logistics and customs related to moving material as quickly as possible to resolve AOG\'s. This position will be the single point of contact for AOG material requirements and will work closely with MCC (Maintenance Control Center) to ensure parts requirements along with regular timely communication is ongoing to ensure timely decisions can be made in regards to aircraft AOG status.

This individual can exhibit a high standard of excellence, enjoys challenges, and is results-driven. The incumbent must be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment.

Key Deliverables:

  • Actively source, negotiate, and manage the best option available to support WestJet\'s Aircraft material requirements during AOG events
  • Responsible to plan and coordinate logistics options with 3rd party providers when expedited delivery and shipping methods from suppliers are required to support AOG events
  • Responsible to provide direction for the shipment of material throughout WestJet\'s international and domestic network to support AOG and MEL requirements
  • Coordinate AOG requirements with Maintenance Control Center to ensure all pertinent information and specifications are gathered prior to sourcing items
  • Communicate to MCC any information in regards to AOG status and provide possible solution(s) with a sense of urgency
  • Responsible to monitor and expedite open AOG and MEL (Minimum Equipment List) orders from suppliers to ensure Maintenance delivery dates are met
  • Plan, coordinate, evaluate and support international logistics to ensure smooth customs clearance, compliance with local and international regulations, and on-time delivery of material to rectify AOG
  • Apply excellent judgment to customs transactions and is able to handle difficult and complex transactions using skill from experience and training to resolve a wide range of issues using both traditional and creative ways of finding solutions
  • Possess the ability to work independently, handle multiple time sensitive tasks and perform in a stressful environment
  • Responsible to process purchase, loan, and exchange and rental orders in accordance to company policies, quality assurance requirements, and documented procedures
  • Ensure all Dangerous Goods procedures are considered in accordance with Transportation of Dangerous Goods Guidelines and IATA Dangerous Goods Shipping Requirements
  • Prepare reports and metrics to monitor active and completed AOG demands and KPI\'s
  • Responsible to review vendor competencies and evaluate service opportunities
  • Proactively coordinate reverse logistics to ensure parts are returned to destination asap and
all system work is up to date.

Experience & Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years\' experience working in the Airline Industry (strong asset)
  • Minimum 3 year experience working in a Technical Operations, buying, logistics or supply chain position
  • Shipping and logistics experience (strong asset)
  • Purchasing or Inventory management designation is an asset
  • Must have at minimum a diploma from a College or Technical School
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required
  • Must be able to work shift work - including night shift and weekends
  • Knowledge of Aviation parts an asset
  • Experience in a procurement related role an asset
  • Experience with Trax would be considered an asset
  • Experience with Illustrated Parts Catalogue, Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins and MEL\'s would be considered an asset
  • IATA Dangerous Goods Certificate or Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate is an asset
  • Ability to multi-task and make decisions in fast-paced, stressful situations, while maintaining a calm and respectful work environment
  • Must possess a dynamic go- getter style mentality when it comes to sourcing material
  • Ability to communicate and get along well with others in a team oriented environment
  • Superior decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills, and the ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines
