Position Summary




Reporting to the Manager, Applicant Services, the Specialist, Evaluations (SE) works closely with the other SEs to support the interpretation, implementation and evaluation of undergraduate admission applications from international applicants and applications for professional programs. This involves evaluation of complex multi-curricula, multi-faculty, dual credit and international admission files and decision-making on non-standard files.


They are also knowledgeable about institutional accreditation and country-specific curricula and use this information to interpret and evaluate the credentials and education students present both at the high-school and post-secondary level.


SEs support the building and maintenance of positive stakeholder relations with colleges, faculties, departments and external bodies for information sharing and development of best practices.


The Office of the Registrar (RO) plays a key role in every aspect of the student experience, from recruitment to graduation and beyond. The RO also supports the broader campus community, including faculties, departments, and other units.Where admission authority is delegated to the Office of the Registrar, the Specialist, Admissions (Evaluations) assesses admissibility, interpreting and applying admission requirements for each program, and communicates admission decisions to applicants. Evaluates education taken at post-secondary institutions, determines accreditation of institution and of program offered, and determines if required pre-professional course requirements have been met. Evaluates transferability of postsecondary courses (in conjunction with the Specialists Research & Curricula) to determine if admission requirements are met. Works with faculties and departments to ensure University admission policy and procedures are efficient, applied consistently, and equitably. Responsible for monitoring the progress of assigned admission applications in order to ensure timely decision-making and notification to applicants. Responsible for generating and monitoring specific reports to identify and prioritize specific workflows for files they are responsible for. Key contact for faculties and provides support for faculty-level admission questions and issues Collaborates with the Managers and Specialists, Research and Curricula in the coordination of workflow, processes and onboarding new staff to the team. Participates in admissions-related working groups to build effective relationships and support continual process improvement. Provides a supportive role to the rest of the team and other units in the Office of the Registrar in building a collaborative and cohesive environment. Other duties as assigned. A University degree is required. A minimum of 2 years' experience in a post-secondary office environment is required, preferably within post-secondary student services/admissions, with experience interpreting and applying policies. Proficiency in a second language is an asset. Proficiency in technical information systems, such as Campus Solutions is an asset. Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, for successful consultations and negotiations with internal and external stakeholders; high degree of tact and diplomacy Experience working in a team environment Strong customer service skills High attention to detail and analytical skills Ability to adapt to continuous procedural change while maintaining consistency in a multi-tasking environment Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; adaptable in a complex, diverse, and fast-paced environment with the flexibility to accommodate varying workday demands Ability to problem-solve and handle multiple tasks in a demanding, policy-complex environment
