We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Advocate to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to supporting individuals with special needs, ensuring they receive the care and resources necessary to thrive. This role involves working closely with a young school aged girl and her family. The Special Needs Advocate will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for those with disabilities.
Responsibilities
Provide direct support and advocacy for individuals with special needs, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, to coordinate patient care and medication administration.
Support clients with daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal care, and maintaining a clean living environment.
Advocate for the rights of individuals with disabilities in various settings, including schools, healthcare facilities, and community organizations.
Assist clients in accessing resources related to working persons with disabilities and other relevant support services.
Assist the family in cooking nutritious meals for client. Blend and feed client via g-tube.
Daily personal care such as bathing, diaper changes, dressing and hygiene.
Engage in heavy lifting, client is non mobile.
Experience
Previous experience in patient care and children is highly desirable.
Familiarity with home care practices and medication administration is preferred.
Experience working with individuals who have disabilities or special needs is a significant advantage.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and families are essential.
A background in nursing or related fields can be beneficial but is not mandatory.
Must demonstrate compassion, patience, and a commitment to improving the lives of those you serve.
Above all must be the right fit for the family, we are willing to train in other areas but applicant must be willing to learn and be committed to making a positive impact on the client and her family.

Position is open to all who are physically capable of lifting and transferring up to 75lbs. Hoyer lift is available although there are instances where manual lift might be necessary. Must have a friendly and compassionate demeanor that fits in with the family. All patient care duties can be trained however kindness and understanding is crucial.
