Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to support children and young adults with Autism and Special needs. The ideal candidate will be patient, creative, and passionate about helping individuals reach their fullest potential in an inclusive and supportive environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. Previous experience working in a special needs environment (strong preference for experience with young adults). Professional in delivering daily programs and supporting students with diverse needs. Fluency in English, with strong reading, writing, and comprehension skills. Strong problem-solving skills and creativity to manage challenges effectively. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Punctuality, flexibility, and reliability in meeting program needs. Patience and the ability to manage challenging behaviors with calmness and care.

Assets (preferred, not required):

Valid First Aid & CPR certification; knowledge of sign language or picture exchange programs.
Key Responsibilities

Assist students with integration into the classroom and lunch settings. Work one-on-one or in small groups to support learning, assignments, and retention concepts under teacher supervision. Use specialized techniques (sign language, PECS, etc.) to support students with communication needs. Monitor and report student progress to teachers and professionals. Accompany and supervise students during yoga and physical activities. Support the use of teaching equipment such as projectors, audio-visual, or electronic devices. Assist with daily living skills, including toileting as required. Supervise students during recess, lunch, and transitions. Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth program delivery. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the program.
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.60-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 - 15 per week

Work Location: In person
