The Special Education Transportation Driver will be responsible for our students with exceptional needs to various schools throughout the city of Sault Ste. Marie on a daily basis. Two runs minimally will be required per driver per day. The first run will be to transport our students to their respective schools and then to transport them home again.

What you will do:

Transporting students to and from designated schools on a daily basis Transporting supplies and/or equipment to various locations under the direction of the education support services coordinator/manager Maintaining log book of all transportation provided (destination, mileage, gas, consumption, circle checks, etc.) Maintaining the transportation van is always in good working conditions Comply with the dealership dates for scheduled oil changes, tune-ups, etc. Communicating matters pertaining to student that are relevant to the parents Communicating in a professional manner Perform other duties as required or assigned
What you can bring to the role:

Must have a valid G License Must have a clear driver's abstract obtained in the last month from the Ministry of transportation Clear vulnerable Sector Check within the last month Demonstrated sensitivity to children with exceptional needs and knowledge of First Nation cultural values and traditions Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, interpersonal skills and communication skills, both verbal and written
