1. To plan, promote, and execute art-related programs, activities, and special events designed to meet the diverse interests and needs of adults aged 18 and older.
2. To advocate on behalf of adults, offering support and resources that promote self-determination, effective self-advocacy, and personal empowerment, while fostering the development of essential life skills and encouraging ongoing personal growth.
3. To provide guidance and support in enhancing independent problem-solving and decision-making skills, empowering adults to effectively manage challenges and make informed choices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and manage weekly art classes for adults aged 18 and above, as well as organize special events tailored for adult participants.
Responsible for planning, preparing, and maintaining detailed documentation of all arts-related programs and events. This includes utilizing various art forms and media, such as photography and video, to capture and showcase the activities.
Demonstrate material processes, techniques and concepts.
Classes are organized in (6) six weeks or (7) seven-week sessions.
Manage classes for up to ten (10) to fifteen (15) participants
To develop and implement educational and recreational programs for adults that will develop individual well-being by increasing self-concept, self-worth and self-determination; increase participation in decision-making process and build a sense of community among adults of the Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre.
Responsible for designing and implementing activities based on individual/group needs and interests.
To assist in community development and outreach and to act as a resource to all diverse communities
To assist program participants in accessing multiple services, supports and resources and to maintain active linkages with other resources and organizations.
To facilitate community involvement and encourage participants to assist in programs and activities.
To develop, support and evaluate leadership training opportunities and other artistic and creative skills building activities for adults.
Promote the Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre's activities.
To provide regular program reports and evaluations, documentation for all serious encounters.
Arrives for scheduled shifts on time. Provides room set up and clean up.
Performs other program related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Post-secondary degree: or diploma in the arts, social work or related human service discipline or combination or equivalent related education and professional experience.
Experience in working with adults and demonstrated commitment to a community-based approach to service delivery.
Demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of related community services.
Diverse knowledge of the arts, practices, processes or methods, program planning and group facilitation.
Teaching Certification is an asset.
Passionate about strengthening local arts, culture, heritage and community
Ability to work well with volunteers/placement students and encouraging client input.
