The Aegir Room in the award winning Oswego Hotel is seeking a skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, and maintaining a positive and efficient work environment. This position requires strong leadership abilities, a commitment to food safety, and a dedication to providing exceptional dining experiences.
Responsibilities
Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and presentation.
Supervise kitchen staff and coordinate daily kitchen activities to ensure smooth operations.
Ensure all food handling and preparation complies with health and safety regulations.
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in cooking techniques and food service standards.
Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering supplies as needed.
Collaborate with the culinary team to create innovative dishes that align with restaurant standards.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area at all times.
Handle customer inquiries or complaints regarding food quality or service promptly and professionally.
Requirements
Proven experience in food service, preferably in a restaurant setting.
Strong knowledge of food handling, preparation techniques, and safety standards.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and supervise kitchen staff effectively.
Experience in restaurant management is a plus.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.
Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members.
A passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional dining experiences.
Previous experience in bartending is an advantage but not required.
