The Position:
The Sous Chef is responsible for contributing to the successful execution and management of The Mule's back-of-house (BOH) team & space. This involves working with the Chef de Cuisine in executing and supervising all BOH day-to-day responsibilities, while also assisting with all BOH preparations, training, and administration as needed.
The Responsibilities:
Oversee and guide all BOH staff on a daily basis, under the direction of the Chef de Cuisine
Act as a leader for all BOH operations in the absence of the Chef de Cuisine
Confidently work in any BOH position as needed
Assist in training and development of all front-line BOH team members
Maintain consistent product quality going out to all guests
Ensure food safety standards are being consistently maintained
Assist with inventory & product ordering as needed
Assist with maintaining adequate food and labour costs
Effectively communicate with the General Manager & Chef de Cuisine, and any/all other members of The Mule's management team regarding any daily updates or issues
Participate in all meetings and training as required
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager, Chef de Cuisine, or The Other Bird's Executive Chef
Ideally, You Have Experience / Education:
High school diploma or GED is required
Diploma in Culinary or Hospitality Management will be an asset
Food Handler's Certification is required
Minimum 5 years' experience working in the restaurant industry (or hotel kitchens) is required
