We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This position requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of food safety practices, and the ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced restaurant setting.
Responsibilities
Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, recipe development, and food presentation.
Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to ensure excellent food quality and service.
Oversee daily kitchen operations, including inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and standards throughout all stages of food preparation.
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service during busy periods.
Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and quality standards.
Assist in managing kitchen schedules and staff assignments to optimize efficiency.
Monitor food stock levels and assist with inventory control to minimize waste.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within the restaurant or food service industry.
Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, including cooking techniques, food safety practices, and sanitation standards.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team effectively.
Experience in supervising kitchen staff and coordinating team efforts in a high-pressure environment.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to facilitate teamwork and collaboration.
A passion for culinary arts with creativity in menu design and presentation.
Ontario Food Handler Certificate.
