Title: Sous Chef



Position Overview:



The Sous Chef plays a key leadership role in the culinary team at [Go. Working closely with the Head Chef, the Sous Chef helps oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation. This role is hands-on, balancing food preparation with team supervision, inventory management, and maintaining health and safety compliance. The Sous Chef contributes to creating memorable dining experiences for members, guests, and tournament participants.

Key Responsibilities:



Assist the Head Chef with menu planning, costing, and recipe development. Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff during service, ensuring efficient workflow. Prepare and cook menu items to the highest standards of taste and presentation. Oversees all food production operations at the facility and ensures the production of consistently high-quality food and appropriate portions for the restaurant. Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and occupational health standards. Maintains a quality sanitation program in all areas. Monitors to ensure proper receiving, storage (including temperature setting) and rotation of food products so as to comply with Health Department regulations. Monitors all equipment in the kitchen to ensure cleanliness and proper working condition. Manage inventory, ordering, and receiving of food supplies. Train, mentor, and support kitchen staff, fostering a positive and professional team culture. Incorporates safe work practices in job performance. Regular and reliable attendance. Assist with catering and banquet operations for tournaments, events, and functions.

Qualifications & Skills



Culinary diploma, Red Seal certification, or equivalent experience. 3-5 years of progressive culinary experience, preferably in a golf course, resort, or banquet setting. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Knowledge of Canadian food safety standards (Food Handler Certification required). Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Creativity and passion for delivering exceptional culinary experiences. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the golf season and event schedule.
