Job Description

NWI Precision specializes in high-precision machining of helicopter masts, turbine shafts, engine thrust links, and nuclear pressure vessel components used in the aerospace and nuclear industries worldwide. NWI Precision's 120,000 sq. ft. facility is located at 9 Fenmar Drive in Toronto. Our dedicated team prides themselves on delivering the highest quality products, to specifications and on time. NWI Precision is currently seeking a Source Inspector to join our team.

The Source Inspector is responsible for performing product and process inspections at supplier facilities to ensure compliance with purchase order requirements, engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable quality standards. This role helps prevent nonconforming products from entering the supply chain and supports supplier development efforts.

Key Responsibilities:



Perform in-process and final inspections at supplier or manufacturing sites. Verify products meet all applicable specifications, drawings, and contractual requirements. Document inspection results accurately and in a timely manner using inspection reports, checklists, and software tools. Review and validate supplier documentation - certificates of conformance, and material test reports etc. Communicate inspection findings to internal stakeholders and suppliers. Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve compliance. Ensure proper handling, identification, and protection of customer property and components. Report any non-conformances and work with internal teams on corrective/preventive actions. Follow all applicable industry standards (e.g., AS9102, ISO 9001, AS9100, or customer-specific standards). Participate in root cause investigation and validate corrective actions implemented

Key Expectations:



Defect Rate: Strive for Zero defective parts received from suppliers at NWI and develop suppliers to enable preventive actions at source. Supplier On-Time Delivery: Co-ordinate with Program Management to ensure the OTD metrics for the supplier are met. CAPA Effectiveness: Follow through on supplier corrective actions through to implementation. Audit Compliance: Success rate in supplier audits and the resolution of any non-compliances.

Qualifications:



Education & Experience:



University Degree or equivalent required; technical degree or certification preferred. 3+ years of experience in quality inspection or manufacturing quality, preferably in aerospace, automotive, or defense industries.

Skills:



Strong understanding of technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, etc.). Strong knowledge about chemical process - specially chrome platting Familiarity with quality systems and standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar. Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications. Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and travel to supplier locations as required. Experience with First Article Inspections (FAI) and Source Inspection Reports is highly desirable.

Work Environment:



Frequently works in manufacturing environments. May require travel to various supplier sites. Requires standing, walking, and use of hands to inspect parts.

ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)
