Description

We are seeking a highly skilled

Senior Solutions Designer

to support the planning and design phase of a multi-year technology modernization initiative. This contract role is dedicated to preparing the analysis of existing infrastructure, foundational architecture, solution strategies, and technical frameworks required for future implementation. The initiative focuses on modernizing a legacy application portfolio by transitioning to a secure, cloud-based, and supportable environment. It aims to reduce technical debt, improve service delivery, and align with broader sustainability and digital transformation goals.

Scope of Work:

This engagement is strictly focused on

current system analysis, planning and draft solution design

. The selected candidate will not be responsible for implementation but will play a critical role in shaping the technical direction and readiness for future execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Current system analysis, planning and draft solution design for multiple applications

Assess current systems and identify opportunities for cloud migration, automation, and improved supportability Design future-state solution architectures aligned with modernization goals Collaborate with stakeholders to define business and technical requirements Develop solution roadmaps, integration strategies, and technical documentation Ensure alignment with security, compliance, and lifecycle management standards Support governance and decision-making through technical expertise and analysis

Qualifications:

Extensive experience in enterprise solution design and architecture Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, legacy modernization, and system integration Proven ability to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams

Solution Design & Technical Expertise (40%)



Ability to design hosting technology solutions based on client specifications, standards, policies, best practices, and cost models. Knowledge of integrated networking technologies, mainframe, midrange servers, enterprise storage/SAN, and PC system technologies. Expertise in leading-edge technologies, design criteria, security and recovery procedures, and preparation of technical specifications for installation, testing, and performance. Experience planning, migrating, implementing, and sustaining large, complex system development projects. Ability to assess performance and capacity of existing systems and recommend improvements. Familiarity with technology developments, trends, and new products to evaluate applicability for short- and long-term requirements.

Leadership and Political Acuity (20%)



Ability to provide technical leadership and guidance during solution design and implementation phases. Understanding of OPS standards, infrastructure management, service delivery processes, and procurement practices. Ability to influence stakeholders and navigate sensitive technical decisions while aligning with organizational objectives. Track record of meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities effectively.

Analytical and Strategic Thinking Skills (20%)



Strong conceptual and analytical skills to assess client needs and conduct cost/benefit analyses for new technology requirements. Ability to evaluate system conditions, technical performance, and capacity to determine feasibility of expansion or replacement. Knowledge of project management methodology (e.g., PMBOK) and analytical tools to support planning and design. Problem-solving and decision-making skills to address complex integration challenges and optimize system performance.

Communication and Relationship Management Skills (20%)



Excellent verbal and written communication skills to prepare technical documentation, specifications, and reports. Ability to gather client business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to work collaboratively with clients, vendors, and internal teams. Teamwork skills and ability to participate in solution development activities and provide advice on short/long-term strategies.

Must have

:10+ years of experience in solutions design Ability to design hosting technology solutions based on client specifications, standards, policies, best practices, and cost models. Knowledge of integrated networking technologies, mainframe, midrange servers (Azure, Migration, On prem to Cloud, application assessment) ability to provide technical leadership and guidance during solution design and implementation phases. Understanding of OPS standards, infrastructure management, Ability to evaluate system conditions, technical performance, and capacity to determine feasibility of expansion or replacement
