Our team is currently looking for a/an:
Solution Designer (hybrid and remote options available)*
What you will do: *

  • Provide Technical insights and support in the identification and Maintenance of OTIPS "Solution Shelf"
  • Analyze the current application/technology/data environments to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.
  • Initiate and lead in design/code reviews and architectural compliance activities to help ensure that designs are in accordance with Technology Enablement strategies, standards, and plans.
  • Research best practices on technical issues or products, monitor and stay current on vendor technology plans and emerging technology solutions and provide recommendations in the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
  • Play an active role in the evaluation and selection of software applications/tools, platforms, or data models by providing technical insight/expertise/ requirements and helping translate business requirements.
  • Provide solution design and recommendations, collaborate with stakeholders to understand business goals, guide in the effective use of solutions, and support delivery of projects to achieve business outcomes in alignment with requirements and the overall Technology, Security, and Privacy strategy and standards.
  • Design solutions that effectively address both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Clearly articulate complex technical solutions to key business stakeholders.
  • Design solutions that are highly scalable and highly available, as well as following guidelines to develop secure code and adhere to security best practices.
  • Provide timely updates, escalate issues, and keep work-items up to date.
  • Create and update appropriate design documents, ensures implementation details and source code are sufficiently documented.
  • Actively participate in pre-implementation activities including solutioning, estimating, and planning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to set and manage appropriate customer expectations when defining solutions.
  • Work with peers to strive for continuous improvement through automation, simplified user experiences, establishing and driving best practices and processes.
  • Participate in developing new product standards and design of standard production configurations, and application roadmaps.
Qualifications*
What you will bring: *
  • A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • A Minimum of 3 years' experience designing enterprise applications.
  • A minimum of 6 years' experience in an object-oriented software development role, preferably in the Microsoft stack.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the demonstrated ability to influence all levels of internal and external stakeholders, while using the most appropriate tool/medium for the audience.
  • Experience with current internet and mobile technologies and design patterns.
  • Experience with Data-driven systems.
  • Proven experience developing and supporting mission critical applications, including business applications
  • Experience developing robust, complex and scalable components for existing and new software solutions
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing customer requirements and technology landscape
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in parallel
  • Ability to solve practical problems and work with limited or incomplete information.
  • Modular systems/architecture/framework based systems background will be considered an asset.
  • Great team player and highly motivated self-starter.
  • Strong mentoring, facilitation and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to build deep relationships with customers and become a trusted advisor.
  • Insurance experience and associated designations will be considered an asset.
