Solution Architect – It Monitoring Tools Modernization & Optimization

Montréal, QC, CA, Canada

Job Description

Role Overview

As part of a large-scale IT environment simplification initiative, CGI Montreal is seeking a Solution Architect to support a major industrial client in the modernization and rationalization of over 60 monitoring tools.

The goal is to reduce operational complexity, enhance system performance, and establish a clear roadmap for each tool (update, migration, or decommissioning) by year-end.

This role requires a high level of autonomy, as the project manager is based in Australia, with some meetings scheduled in the evening.

The Solution Architect will act as a technical lead, responsible for documenting designs, coordinating technical activities, and supporting IT operations teams throughout the rationalization process.

Key Responsibilities

Assess the current state (As-Is) and define the target architecture (To-Be) for monitoring tools. Produce detailed blueprints including assumptions, interfaces, and technical justifications. Build a roadmap through 2026 for each tool (migrate, invest, tolerate, decommission). Proactively submit migration and decommissioning requests to accelerate progress. Document and store designs in the IT Automation architecture repository.

Required Profile

Minimum 3 years of experience in IT solution architecture. Strong understanding of monitoring and observability tools. Ability to work independently and coordinate technical activities. Excellent technical documentation and communication skills. Bilingualism (French and English) required.

Technical Assets

Familiarity with tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, SolarWinds, Zabbix, Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana, ServiceNow ITOM, etc. Experience in hybrid cloud and ITOM / AIOps environments. Knowledge of ITSM / ITIL frameworks and IT governance practices.
