Alberta Health Services IT has an exciting opportunity for a Business Intelligence and Analytics Solution Architect to join the Health Information Exchange team in supporting projects. The Solution Architect is responsible for working with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and maintain a holistic view of business domains or major enterprise-wide information technology initiatives. You: You are a highly motivated individual who is results-focused and committed to implementing quality services. You have a keen interest in people, processes and healthcare technologies. You have a solid background in Business Intelligence and Analytics. You demonstrate strong communication and facilitation skills, and ideally, have experience working across all levels within an organization including senior executives, managers, front line, corporate and technical staff. Your Role: The Solution Architect plays a key role in providing architecture oversight, producing architecture artifacts for large projects/programs and collaborating with other architects and project roles to produce comprehensive deliverables. Key activities will include: Captures and prioritizes market and environmental trends, business strategies and objectives, and identifies the business benefits of alternative strategies. Develops enterprise-wide architecture and processes that ensure that the strategic application of change is embedded in the management of the organization, ensuring the buy-in of all stakeholders. Develops and presents business cases, for high-level initiatives, for approval, funding and prioritization. Ensures compliance between business strategies, enterprise transformation activities and technology directions, setting strategies, policies, standards and practices.

Solution Design Varying by phase and type of project, the architect is responsible for completing the architecture design for the scope of the particular project. They will also take into consideration any reference architecture that may be available and the Architecture Principles that have been established. Stakeholder Engagement Each specific architecture domain has many stakeholders and service owners to maintain. This role needs to take a proactive role in managing these relationships according to AHS policies and guidelines. Quality Management & Decision Requests At many times through the project lifecycle, the solution will have design options that need to be considered and a final decision approved. The architect is responsible for detailing clearly the options considered (or not) and providing an assessment and recommendation on how to move forward. Risk Identification and Mitigation Planning Articulates various IT solution risks and mitigation options, based on the established risk management criteria, for consideration by the project team.
