Actalent is seeking a Software Test Engineer with automotive experience for a 12 month contract in Ottawa, ON!
Job Title: Software Test Engineer

The Software Development Team is seeking a Software Test Engineer with a primary focus on diagnostics to ensure the reliability, quality, and safety of telematics systems and connected vehicle features. You will work closely with Software Developers from various domains such as RF, Networking, CAN Communication, Peripherals, and Power Management.
Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and execute comprehensive software integration and functional tests.
• Create thorough test plans using Diagnostics Requirements, Specification Documents, Software Design Specifications, and Vehicle End-of-Line process considerations.
• Perform manual testing and triage automated test results to identify, troubleshoot, and report software issues.
• Collaborate with a Python Script Developer to automate test cases, focusing on complex test strategy and problem-solving.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing methodologies and tools.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of experience in ECU Diagnostics within automotive or comparable embedded industries.
• Proven knowledge of CAN Bus Messaging and associated tools (e.g., CANoe, Vehicle Spy, CANape).
• Experience with Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) Protocol (ISO).
• 3+ years of software test experience on Embedded software platforms (e.g., Linux, QNX, Android OS).
• 3+ years of experience with Test Case Development and industry-standard tools (e.g., HP Quality Center, Testrail, Azure DevOps Test Plans).

Additional Assets

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with troubleshooting and in-depth log analysis techniques.
• Experience with laboratory equipment such as Power Supplies, Signal Generators, and Spectrum Analyzers.
• Familiarity with reading and interpreting circuit schematics.
• Experience with JIRA or similar tools for development and defect tracking.
• Knowledge of Python scripting for test automation or data analysis.

Work Environment
This role requires working on-site five days a week. The team is highly collaborative, providing opportunities for advancement as demonstrated by previous employees in this role.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Ottawa, Ontario.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $52.00/hr.
