Role Summary:
The Application Operation Services & Quality Engineering (AOSQE) team is a part of the larger Digital Business & Technology Solutions team. Working better together. Our teams provide the services and technology our business partners need to help clients achieve lifetime financial security. We partner closely with groups and individuals throughout Sun Life Financial to provide products and services that deliver business value. As a member of the AOSQE, the Software Quality Engineer will provide automated testing services and quality assurance activities throughout the systems development life cycle for medium, large, complex or high-risk software development and agile projects. This role is focused on mainframe application delivery in an Agile team and requires an experienced candidate who can design and develop Automated testing for functional and regression tests.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Work with the QA and Development teams to design and implement effective quality automation strategies.
  • Working as part of cross-functional agile teams to deliver product features, including manual and automated test execution & planning.
  • Champion and advocate automation and quality within the Agile team
  • Contribute to agile testing practices and processes.
  • Creation and maintenance of repeatable test ware including:
  • Regression models and automation scripts
  • Training documentation
  • Track QA progress and provide analysis & metrics on the QA Development effort.
  • Log and track detailed product defects.
  • Provide timely and effective communication to management, relating to quality, resource and project issues & concerns.
  • Deliver key quality control documents and activities required in the agile team for web and mobile applications.
Competencies:
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience, including development and/or quality automation experience
  • Related University Degree or College Diploma and evidence of progressive development in Quality Engineering
  • Solid experience in QE best practices, tools, and approach to testing front-end and back-end applications
  • Knowledge of functional, non-functional, regression, integration and end-to-end testing of Mainframe applications
  • Exceptional organizational, planning and leadership skills
  • Strong commitment and ownership for the success of QE deliverables
  • Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid experience in test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Tosca, ReadyAPI)
  • Demonstrated understanding of Agile methodologies, DevOps and tools (Jira, Confluence)
  • Experienced in qTest, (or equivalent)
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Approach tasks with an innovative mind set and positive outlook
  • Knowledge in financial services and insurance industry
  • CSTE certification (or equivalent) is an asset
The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
