The Role:
Rakuten Kobo is looking for a Software QA Intern to join our amazing eReader team on a part-time basis as an intern, based in either Toronto, Canada or Darmstadt, Germany starting immediately. You will be joining one of our development teams to deliver awesome new features for our many users to enjoy.
Our engineers are enthusiastic and operate across the development spectrum, from front-end to back-end to CI/CD and infrastructure. We take full responsibility for our work, from requirements gathering and solutioning, to implementation and testing, to deploying and monitoring how our code behaves in front of real customers. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate eager to start a career in software testing and quality assurance.
The Software QA Intern will work with the delivery team made up of software engineers, product manager, designers and take an active part in delivering high quality software to Rakuten Kobo's users.
Responsibilities:

• Break things (on purpose!) - Test software to uncover bugs before users do.
• Be the quality champion - Ensure every feature is polished, functional, and user-friendly.
• Get creative with edge cases - Think outside the box to find unexpected failures.
• Team up with developers - Collaborate to squash bugs and improve code quality.
• Document like a detective - Log detailed, reproducible bug reports.
• Learn & grow - Get hands-on experience with cutting-edge testing tools.

Required:

• Enrolled student of computer science, business informatics or a similar study program.
• Innovative thinking and persistent working methods.
• A passion for software development and delivery.
• Proactive and creative problem solver with the ability to multi-task and manage tight deadlines.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Have a desire to work in a team but also be self-organizing enough to be able to work on a task independently.
• Experience in developing and executing test cases.
• Must be registered as a full-time student in a post-secondary institution program at either an accredited Canadian or German post-secondary institution.
