Transforming the Future with Convergence of Simulation and Data Software Engineer Consultant/Expert Job Summary: Our client in Kanata, ON is looking for a Software Engineer Consultant/Expert. This is a contract position. What You Will Do:

  • Designs, implements and maintains tools for constructing the SYNC build and images.
  • Configuration and monitoring of product builds.
  • Defines and discerns key aspects of problems that require analysis and research, and develops an integrated solution within a broad technical and business context of significant or strategic impact to the enterprise.
  • Makes sure build and deployment processes are following known best practices.
  • Optimizes the SYNC builds and image creation process and tooling.
  • Modifies, installs and prepares technical documentation for use by development and test groups.
  • Diagnoses, isolates and debugs software problems and performs problem resolution. Performs other duties as required.
Basics:
  • Bachelor\xc2\xb4s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience required.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using OOD and OOP to design and implement applications.
  • Experience designing, implementing, building and supporting C and C++ applications.
  • Experience designing, implementing, building and supporting Python applications Also Python Web Application.
  • Experience designing and implementing and deploying SQL Database Schemas to support applications.
  • Experience working with Continuous Integration (CI) tools such as Jenkins.
  • Proficiency in Linux (any current distro, Red Hat Enterprise Linux / RHEL, Ubuntu, SLES) or Unix operating systems and Windows.
  • For Linux, a knowledge of system administration and ability to create Bash scripts For Windows, knowledge of system administration and ability to create MS-DOS and Powershell scripts Proficiency in another compiled programming language such has Java or Go Proficiency in designing and implementing and deploying web applications.
  • Experience configuring, deploying applications from and managing one or more Web servers such as: Apache Ngenx Tomcat JBoss Jetty.
Preferred:
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure technologies is useful e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, AWS or Azure Proficiency with GNU Make Proficiency with one or more of the following build languages: Maven, Gradle, Bazel, Ant, Jam, Buck, CMake, Ninja, Autotools Proficiency with scripting languages (Bash, Lua, Perl, Ruby etc.).
  • Required Proficiency in Ruby and Python.
  • Experience in DevOps environment in a large enterprise is desired Knowledge on configuring or maintaining cloud and container platforms (i.e. AWS, Azure, Docker ).
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels.
