Key Responsibilities
As the Software Development Manager, you will lead a talented team of software developers to deliver high-performing digital solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leadership & Team Management
o Provide mentorship, direction, and training to the software development team, ensuring equitable workload distribution and professional growth.
o Foster a collaborative, results-oriented culture focused on customer service excellence and continuous improvement. * Project & Process Management
o Oversee corporate software development projects from inception to delivery, ensuring milestones are achieved and stakeholders remain informed.
o Assess and enhance development tools, methodologies, and environments to drive operational efficiency and innovation. * Technical Strategy & Architecture
o Architect, design, and maintain databases and software systems that ensure scalability, performance, and security.
o Guide the development of new client/server and Windows-based applications, as well as support and improve existing systems. * Quality & Compliance
o Ensure all software and systems adhere to regulatory standards, data security best practices, and internal compliance requirements.
o Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design and functional specifications. * Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
o Partner with internal business units to assess technology needs, recommend solutions, and identify opportunities to improve process efficiency.
o Participate in departmental meetings, providing updates, insights, and progress reports to senior leadership.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate the following:
  • Education & Experience:
o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computing Science, or a related discipline.
o 15+ years of software development, database management, and IT leadership experience.
o Proven experience managing technical teams and leading end-to-end software development initiatives. * Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in Microsoft technologies, including .NET, C#, SQL Server, and Visual Studio.
o Experience with REST-based API design, Guidewire, and client-side frameworks such as React or Angular.
o Familiarity with Microsoft Team Foundation, ASPX, HTML, VB Script, JQuery, and related tools. * Key Competencies:
o Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
o Exceptional communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
o Results-driven mindset with a focus on innovation, efficiency, and quality outcomes.
o Knowledge of accounting and/or property and casualty (P&C) insurance systems is an asset.
