Actalent is seeking a software developer with skills in Golang for a 9 month fully remote contract with an industry leading networking company!
Job Title: Software Developer

Join our dynamic team as a Software Developer, contributing to a high-impact networking project. You will be responsible for building cloud-native backend services in Go, which integrate with networking equipment and are deployed by leading enterprises across critical sectors such as healthcare, education, and finance. This role offers a unique combination of modern cloud engineering on AWS, alongside systems- and network-level challenges, providing strong mentorship, rapid learning, and meaningful ownership from design through production.
Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services primarily using Go.
• Implement and consume RESTful APIs following strong API design and security best practices.
• Write automation and utility scripts in Python or Bash.
• Containerize applications using Docker and deploy/manage workloads on Kubernetes.
• Provision, configure, and operate AWS resources (EC2 and related services) to host and scale application workloads.
• Integrate software with networking equipment and troubleshoot interactions between software and hardware.
• Collaborate with product, QA, and operations teams to define requirements, create release plans, and ensure reliability.
• Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and deployment procedures.
• Instrument services with logging and metrics; monitor and optimize for performance, scalability, and resilience.

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in software development.
• Strong proficiency in Go (Golang) with production project experience.
• Experience in backend development with RESTful APIs.
• Practical experience with AWS, particularly EC2 and standard supporting services.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Solid knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS) and load balancing concepts.

Assets:

• Experience with additional AWS services (S3, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch).
• Familiarity with observability tooling (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK).
• Prior work with network appliances or embedded systems.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms (e.g., Jenkins, Travis CI, GitHub Actions).
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Test automation and DevOps experience.
• Great communication skills.
• Ability to work independently.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $64.00/hr.
