Job Title: Software Developer - Senior
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Duration: 500 days + Possible extension
Must Have:

• 10+ years of experience with developing code in SQL and Azure SQL, T-SQL, Azure Streaming Analytics SQL
• In-depth knowledge of Azure PaaS data services such as Azure SQL Database, Data Lake Store (Gen 2), Data Factory
• In-depth knowledge of on premise SQL Server

Description

• Review and understand code and architecture of the existing code, and make updates as required to ensure the code is modular and can support scalability requirements
• Code enhancements to existing features and new features as per approved requirements and design direction
• Provide realistic work estimates to support project planning; capture business requirements and update business rules based on the requirements
• Use structured methodologies, design best practices, implement code that is of quality, and clearly documented. The application should function as required, without any defects. The application must operate with the Operating System (OS) and other peripherals as identified
• Create custom reports as required, applying Microsoft Technologies
• Conduct testing, integration, and deployment of the developed changes across the environment
• Review, analyze and recommend solutions to any defects discovered in production
• Fully document all developed code, and transition in a steady state to a full-time resource.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements:
Design and Development Experience: 35 %

• 10+ years of experience with developing code in SQL and Azure SQL, T-SQL, Azure Streaming Analytics SQL
• In-depth knowledge of Azure PaaS data services such as Azure SQL Database, Data Lake Store (Gen 2), Data Factory
• In-depth knowledge of on premise SQL Server
• In-depth knowledge of Azure PaaS data streaming services such as Azure Event Hub, Streaming Analytics
• Familiar with SSAS Partitioning
• Demonstrated experience with power query/power pivot, and being able to combine datasets from different sources
• Writing Python and SQL script for custom Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) installations
• Demonstrated experience with Datafactory, On-Premises data gateway
• Familiar with PowerBI best practices
• Experience with and knowledge of UI Design Principles
• Experience in SOAP and REST web services for processing real-time data streams
• Demonstrated experience in enabling role-based security in the reports by restricting access to information (record-based access) and reports
• Demonstrated experience with deployment of Report into Azure infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions
• Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude

Technical Skills: 35%

• 10+ years of technical data warehousing experience with a focus in the design and development of Business Intelligence
• Experience with Azure Analysis Services / SSAS (tabular/multidimensional), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI
• End to end management of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD)
• Developing process models and ongoing analysis of program effectiveness for Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD),
• Demonstrated experience in design and data modeling of data warehouse (e.g. dimensional modeling), data cubes, tabular models to support reporting, both ad-hoc and "canned" reports.
• Demonstrated experience in design and development of data models for OLTP (On-line Transaction Processing) and OLAP (On-line Analytical Processing) environments based on industry best practices.
• Demonstrated experience in design and development of ETL (Extract, transform, load) processes, and validating data sources
• Demonstrated experience in design and development of visualizations for various reports/dashboards including near real-time to be shared with both B2B and B2C
• Demonstrated experience in architecting, design, and building dynamic, real-time analytics pipelines and dashboards using visualization tools such as PowerBI
• Demonstrated experience in building and deploying Mobile dashboards

Communication Skills: 20%

• Strong verbal and written communication skills that enable to effectively communicate ideas and concepts. Strong Interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Writing Business Requirements Document, Data Sharing Agreements,
• Strong consulting skills to engage with all stakeholders, lead meetings with internal and external clients to gather and document business requirements.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in an agile environment, be an effective communicator with other team members and the business owners.
• A demonstrated team player with a proven track record for meeting deadlines
• Demonstrated experience in creating conceptual, logical, and physical data documentation for knowledge retention and transfer.

Industry Experience: 10%

• Experience in working on multi-year projects
• Experience with building enterprise level reporting solutions that protect high-sensitive information
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with OPS governance methodologies (e.g. UPM, architecture gating)
