Job Title: Software Developer

Join our dynamic datacomms team as a Software Developer, where you will engage in software development for optical waveserver and RLS projects. We seek an engineer with expertise in designing and developing embedded telecommunications software, possessing strong software engineering skills with experience in data communication technologies such as Ethernet and IP. Proficiency in developing real-time embedded software in C within a Linux Operating System is essential.
Responsibilities

• Develop embedded C software on the 6500 family of optical switches, including enhancing existing software, developing new features, and supporting new hardware.
• Participate in all stages of software development, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, collaborating with hardware, software, and system engineers to identify root causes.
• Investigate and collect information to resolve process or design issues found in current or previous designs.
• Identify software performance improvements through test-driven development, automated unit testing, and comprehensive integration testing.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in developing embedded software applications (ideally 5+ years).
• Experience with TCP/IP, IPV4, and IPV6.
• Proficiency in working within a Linux environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a large team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of IP routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and ISIS.
• Experience in mentoring others.
• Python skills for automating tests.
• Familiarity with optical networking and data communications.

Work Environment
Work on-site a minimum of three days per week, with encouragement to be present more frequently. The environment fosters learning and growth opportunities, with lunch and learn sessions and seminars hosted to enhance team skills.
