Job Description

On behalf of our Public Sector Client, Ignite Technical Resources is recruiting for a Software Developer I - Emerging Technologies Specialist to join our Client's team on a Contract basis. This role is Hybrid, with three days per week onsite, and the Client is based in Richmond, BC.
Summary of the Role
This role supports a team focused on advancing AI-enabled software development practices. The successful candidate will work on rapid prototypes and emerging technology initiatives designed to enhance productivity, stability, and innovation in software delivery. This position is ideal for an early-career technologist eager to explore new tools, experiment with advanced techniques, and contribute to AI-augmented development processes within a collaborative environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Participate in designing and building rapid prototypes and proofs-of-concept using AI-native approaches.
Apply methods such as prompt engineering, orchestration frameworks, context management, RAG, and agent-based tooling.
Support full lifecycle activities including design, development, testing, deployment, and evaluation.
Research and assess emerging technologies, bringing forward recommendations for experimentation.
Collaborate in an agile environment with technical and business partners to advance project goals.
Contribute to practices and guidelines that support safe transition of AI-enabled prototypes into production environments.
Core Requirements
Recent graduation from a Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related STEM program.
Demonstrated curiosity and experimentation through technical projects, hackathons, or personal initiatives.
Experience contributing to rapid prototypes using AI-native development techniques.
Ability to support the full software lifecycle from design through evaluation.
Comfortable working collaboratively within an agile, multidisciplinary team.
Desired Skills & Experience
Exposure to cloud or AI platforms such as Azure AI, AWS, or similar technologies.
Experience with at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript).
Background building academic or personal projects involving AI, ML, or automation.
Understanding of agile methods, DevOps concepts, or full-stack fundamentals.
Familiarity with orchestration or agent frameworks used in AI-driven development.
Terms
This is a 12-month contract role. The position follows a Hybrid arrangement requiring three days per week onsite in Richmond, BC. Reference checks and a background check will be required at the offer stage.
