Amsted Canada has established a new Business Center in downtown Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. We are elevating our Global Technology teams in several areas including but not limited to Security, Development, Infrastructure, Emerging Technology, SAP, and Engineering. These teams are instrumental in providing support to all Amsted affiliate locations worldwide.

Amsted Digital Solutions, part of Amsted Rail, is a leading provider of software solutions and Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) systems for supply chain visibility and condition monitoring. Our customers (railroad operators, rail asset owners, and shippers) use our solutions to monitor railcars and other remote assets to gain operational insight in near-real time through our platform.

Position Details:

Amsted Digital Solutions is seeking a skilled Software Developer with a strong background in C#, SQL, and DevOps. The ideal candidate will have experience working with event-driven microservices and RESTful APIs, non-relational data repositories, CI/CD pipelines (Terraform), and a solid understanding of Azure services.

This role is a backend position on the Asset team, focused on gathering and generating intelligence for railcars. We combine and synthesize device data, data-analytics output, and external sources to provide additional insights to our users, and an overall view of their assets.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain software in C#, .NET, SQL, and Terraform
  • Implement solutions using event-driven architecture
  • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs for various CRUD operations
  • Work with Azure services including Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, Event Grid, queues, blob storage, and storage tables
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions
  • Generate documentation to capture the design of new features within the Asset Management domain
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assist in the evaluation of new frameworks, cloud components, and tools
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • At least 3 years of proven experience in C# and SQL
  • Experience with event-driven architecture and RESTful API development
  • Proficient in Azure services (Cosmos DB, MSSQL, Event Grid, etc)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Outstanding written communication and teamwork abilities, essential for collaboration within our geographically distributed team
  • A passion for programming and proficient with git/source control
  • Experience in a similar industry or with similar technology environments
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies

This position is being filled in our Charlottetown office and is not available for remote work at this time.
