Job Description

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community through support of older adults? JCFS Winnipeg is seeking a Social Worker - Older Adult Services to play a vital role in advancing our mission of strengthening lives.

This position provides case management, counselling, advocacy, and program support to older adults within Winnipeg's Jewish community. This role emphasizes working collaboratively with clients, families, and community partners to address issues such as social isolation, mental health, financial hardship, aging-in-place, and elder abuse.

Key Responsibilities:



Provide case management and direct support to older adults, including assessments, goal planning, advocacy, and referrals. Deliver counselling and supportive interventions to individuals and families coping with aging, loss, or caregiving challenges. Support and facilitate programs and group activities that promote social connection and mental wellness among seniors. Conduct safety planning, risk assessments, and crisis intervention as needed. Assist clients in navigating health, housing, financial, and legal systems. Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential case notes and records in accordance with professional standards. Collaborate with colleagues, volunteers, and community partners to strengthen networks of support. Contribute to ongoing program evaluation and community outreach initiatives. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited program. Current registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Manitoba College of Social Workers. Minimum of 2 years' experience working with older adults in a social services, health, or community setting Knowledge of issues related to aging, elder abuse, dementia, caregiving, and social isolation. Proven experience working with sub-populations such as Holocaust Survivors, Newcomer Seniors, Seniors with mental health challenges, et cetera Strong case management, advocacy, and crisis intervention skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle Fluency in a secondary language, such as Hebrew, Russian, or Spanish, is an asset

Pay: $55,000.00-$58,000.00 per year
