Position Summary:





The Social Worker provides trauma focused therapy and support for people who are current or past survivors of sexual abuse and/or domestic violence. This position is part of a multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for psychosocial trauma assessment, developing treatment plans in conjunction with the client, using a trauma focused model to provide psychotherapy, as well as advocacy, education and community liaison/referral as required.


Responsibilities:





As Nina's Place Social Worker/Counsellor, you will:


Provide crisis and ongoing trauma counselling services to adults, youth, children and their families who experienced recent sexual assault/abuse or domestic violence. Conduct trauma-informed psychosocial assessments and provide trauma specific therapy. Provide education to community professionals and the general public on violence against women as needed. Actively participate on community committees concerning violence against women, including development of community protocols and any new initiatives to respond to sexual assault and domestic violence in partnership with the program coordinator.

Qualifications:





Masters of Social Work (MSW) required. A member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). Demonstrated knowledge and competency in social work values, ethics, theory, and established clinical practice standards. Minimum two (2) years' of clinical counselling experience within the past four (4) years' supporting survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and/or working in areas of women's health. Comprehensive understanding of trauma reactions resulting from sexual and domestic assaults. Commitment to a feminist analysis of violence against women and the ability to integrate this framework into clinical practice. Proven ability to perform a range of therapeutic functions including psychosocial assessment, psychotherapy, case management, crisis intervention, and advocacy. Strong safety planning skills and experience with high-risk domestic violence clients. Knowledge and understanding of the legal system as it pertains to sexual assault and domestic violence. Excellent knowledge of community resources and referral processes combined with strong community liaison skills, and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated training in recognized trauma therapies such as EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Sensorimortor Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) or Trauma-Focused CBT. Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of professional accountability. Strong interpersonal, communication, teamwork, consultation, and advocacy skills. Proven knowledge, sensitivity, and experience in working with diverse populations and applying principles of equity and inclusion in practice.
