About the Opportunity
Here is an opportunity to join your passion for your practice to your sense of adventure! Acadian culture, the sea air and the great outdoors will offer a variety of rewarding experiences. The social worker will report to the Manager of Child and Adolescent Mental Health & Addiction Services, however will have shared responsibilities with both the NSHA & the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP). The social worker will provide school mental health services directly in the school environment within the designated Schools Plus schools (NDA, Cheticamp, and Etoile de L\'Acadie, Sydney). The school mental health clinician is a team player and works flexibly to best meet the needs of clients and the service. The school mental health clinician is able to create and provide evidence-based educational presentations to clients, families, other agencies, and fellow staff members on topics relating to mental health and concurrent disorders. Grand rounds presentations are required as part of this job. Flexibility in hours of work may be required depending on patient care.
Schools Plus is a collaborative model that is comprehensive and student focused. Partners work together to educate and provide service to the child and their family, with the school as the center of the service. The service will focus on early identification and intervention of mental health disorders for children and adolescent within the school population. The school mental health clinician will act as a liaison between the client, school, and mental health services.
