About the Opportunity

Here is an opportunity to join your passion for your practice to your sense of adventure! Acadian culture, the sea air and the great outdoors will offer a variety of rewarding experiences. The social worker will report to the Manager of Child and Adolescent Mental Health & Addiction Services, however will have shared responsibilities with both the NSHA & the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP). The social worker will provide school mental health services directly in the school environment within the designated Schools Plus schools (NDA, Cheticamp, and Etoile de L\'Acadie, Sydney). The school mental health clinician is a team player and works flexibly to best meet the needs of clients and the service. The school mental health clinician is able to create and provide evidence-based educational presentations to clients, families, other agencies, and fellow staff members on topics relating to mental health and concurrent disorders. Grand rounds presentations are required as part of this job. Flexibility in hours of work may be required depending on patient care.

Schools Plus is a collaborative model that is comprehensive and student focused. Partners work together to educate and provide service to the child and their family, with the school as the center of the service. The service will focus on early identification and intervention of mental health disorders for children and adolescent within the school population. The school mental health clinician will act as a liaison between the client, school, and mental health services.

  • Admissibilit\xc3\xa9 \xc3\xa0 l\'inscription aupr\xc3\xa8s de l\'Association des travailleurs sociaux de la Nouvelle-\xc3\x89cosse.
  • Au moins deux (2) ans d\'exp\xc3\xa9rience dans un environnement de sant\xc3\xa9 mentale pour patients hospitalis\xc3\xa9s et patients externes \xc3\xa0 offrir une \xc3\xa9valuation ind\xc3\xa9pendante et \xc3\xa0 assurer le traitement des troubles de sant\xc3\xa9 mentale chez les enfants, les adolescents et leurs familles, y compris les troubles concomitants (consommation abusive de drogues, d\xc3\xa9pendance et maladie mentale).
  • Expertise confirm\xc3\xa9e en mati\xc3\xa8re des principes de gestion du comportement, de th\xc3\xa9rapie comportementale et cognitive, de th\xc3\xa9rapie de groupe pour les enfants et les adolescents, et de mod\xc3\xa8les de th\xc3\xa9rapie br\xc3\xa8ve.
  • Connaissance du DMS-V et capacit\xc3\xa9 de l\'utiliser pour \xc3\xa9valuer et diagnostiquer les troubles courants de sant\xc3\xa9 mentale chez les enfants (p. ex. anxi\xc3\xa9t\xc3\xa9, d\xc3\xa9pression, troubles de comportement) et capacit\xc3\xa9 de d\xc3\xa9celer des troubles plus graves (p. ex. psychose, trouble bipolaire) et de faire les renvois appropri\xc3\xa9s.
  • Exp\xc3\xa9rience en mati\xc3\xa8re d\'intervention en cas de crise et d\'\xc3\xa9valuation des risques.
  • Comp\xc3\xa9tences manifestes en leadership en mati\xc3\xa8re de collaboration et de coop\xc3\xa9ration dans le cadre d\'une \xc3\xa9quipe multidisciplinaire, dans un environnement et selon un horaire de travail flexible.
  • Capacit\xc3\xa9 exemplaire de coordonner l\'\xc3\xa9tablissement de liens avec d\'autres organismes, au besoin, par exemple : justice, \xc3\xa9ducation, services sociaux, organismes communautaires.
  • Connaissances approfondies des ressources communautaires.
  • Formation et exp\xc3\xa9rience, ex\xc3\xa9cution d\'\xc3\xa9valuations de la sant\xc3\xa9 mentale et mise en place de plans de traitements bas\xc3\xa9s sur les faits pour les enfants et les adolescents.
  • Connaissances et exp\xc3\xa9rience confirm\xc3\xa9es dans l\'\xc3\xa9valuation psychologique des comp\xc3\xa9tences sociales, affectives, scolaires, intellectuelles et en traitement de l\'information des \xc3\xa9l\xc3\xa8ves pour faire l\'\xc3\xa9valuation des \xc3\xa9l\xc3\xa8ves et poser les diagnostics n\xc3\xa9cessaires, le tout afin de mieux comprendre les \xc3\xa9l\xc3\xa8ves et d\'aider \xc3\xa0 pr\xc3\xa9parer des programmes appropri\xc3\xa9s qui am\xc3\xa9liorent l\'apprentissage et les r\xc3\xa9sultats sociaux.
