As the Social Worker in the Family Court Clinic, you will primarily conduct biopsychosocial assessments for court orders under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. As a member of the Integrated Forensic Program, you may assist with social work intervention for clients of the forensic program. You will use best practices to provide person centred Social Work services to clients and their families. This includes assessment, therapeutic intervention and discharge planning; in collaboration with the clinical team, client, and families.

Duties:

Provide individual, family and group therapy following best practice standards, consistent with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Complete risk assessment and crisis intervention plans. Engage client, family and caregivers in the clinical interventions and risk reduction strategies with the interdisciplinary team. Advocate on behalf of clients, families and caregivers for appropriate services and resources. Collaborate, consult and liaise with team members and community resources. Provide timely and comprehensive social work biopsychosocial assessment, consultation, treatment and discharge reports. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the theories and practices of a professional social worker. Demonstrate knowledge of The Child and Family Services Act (CFSA) and Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) Maintain workload measurement and data collection as required) Participate in the teaching, education and supervision of Social Work students. Attend Social Work meetings and participate in discipline specific committees Attend Social Work peer consultation groups, and participate in peer consultation processes Complete and maintain all requirements for registration with OCSWSSW Keep current of hospital policies and procedures and applicable legislation. Keep up to date regarding professional standards by reviewing current literature, attending education events, networking with colleagues, etc. Provide educational presentations to community groups. Flexibility in work schedule; day and evening hours as required. Liaise, consult and work collaboratively with community service providers. Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal. Qualifications:


Master's degree in Social Work. Minimum 2 years within the last 5 years of clinical Social Work, experience in Forensic Psychiatry is preferred. Experience working with family and youth under the CFSA or YCJA Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Worker Demonstrated ability to work with an interdisciplinary team. Person centered approach. Experience in group work. Knowledge of applicable legislated acts (e.g. MHA, PHIPA, The Health Care Consent Act). Ability to manage and determine priorities with a diverse case load. Strong advocacy skills. Ability to work in an automated work environment. Proven presentation, training, and group facilitation skills is an asset. Experience in providing services and reports in forensic/court related matters is preferred. Experience in providing evidence to courts or related proceedings is preferred. Knowledge of precedent cases (related to Mental Disorder Provision of Criminal Code) decided by the Supreme Court of Canada affecting future decisions and management of mentally disordered offenders is preferred. Advanced crisis intervention skills based on application of formal risk and clinical assessment. Knowledge and experience in Illness Management and Recovery Model is preferred. Conflict resolution knowledge related to addressing behaviour issues with forensic clients within the scope of social work practice. Understanding of the treatment and management of clients with a concurrent disorder(major mental illness and substance abuse). High level of knowledge, skill and confidence in using electronic health record systems for clinical documentation and navigation Valid driver's licence and access to reliable vehicle is preferred. English level A- is mandatory in oral expression/comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. French level A- is mandatory in oral expression and oral comprehension.

Salary Range:

44.67 to 57.90 per hour
