Your Opportunity:Opioid use is a serious problem in Alberta that requires a comprehensive, coordinated, and sustainable approach to prevent and reduce harms related to opioid dependence. Strategies have been implemented to address this problem, including enhanced psychosocial support to people accessing care and their families. The Opioid Dependency Program (ODP) and Narcotic Transition Services (NTS) provide medication as well as numerous other supports to people diagnosed with an opioid use disorder to support them in their recovery. We are seeking an experienced, caring, strength-based professional to complement our Health Services Team. Working from a harm reduction and trauma-informed approach, the Social Worker II will be responsible for a variety of services from resource brokerage to counselling. The provision of assessments of clients wanting to access services, as well as supporting clients in applications, psychosocial support, risk screening, counselling, case management & coordination, transition planning, health prevention & promotion and accessing other community services. The position will function in the context of an interdisciplinary team that provides quality, client-focused, recovery-based, and concurrent capable and culturally sensitive care to those accessing services. The Social Worker position also involves consultation and collaboration with inter-professional team members internal and external to AHS. This is a very busy position within the clinic.Description:As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:Completion of bachelor\'s degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW). Additional Required Qualifications:Must have a minimum of 3 - 5 years of previous experience working with people who have been prescribed different forms of opioid replacement therapy for addiction. Must have experience working with vulnerable populations including those living with addictions and mental health concerns. Must be able to work independently with occasional review, having the consultation support of a Manager or Supervisor. Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment, intervention, and system navigation and case management required. Knowledge of counselling modalities to work with people accessing care who want support in their recovery. Experience working in an interdisciplinary setting is required. Effective case management skills are required. Commitment to Family and Client Centered Care is required. Knowledge of and ability to apply the principles of trauma-informed care in all interactions with clients. Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills are required. Demonstrated knowledge of the community and the ability to collaborate with community partners required. Experience working in an interdisciplinary setting is required. NVCI or immediate registration into the next available course is required. Suicide Prevention training. Preferred Qualifications:Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills. Calm, warm and engaging style with the ability to engage various populations.
