Your Opportunity:Reporting to the Manager in Child & Adolescent Addictions and Mental Health & Psychiatry Program (CAAMHPP) Specialized Services, this Social Worker II position serves children and their families who present with complex and co-morbid mental health disorders and developmental, cognitive and behavioral issues. The position demands system expertise and solid clinical skills. This position combines a clinical and coordinator/case management role and is the intake clinician responsible for facilitating timely, family-centered and consistent responses to referrals and service requests received for the Neuropsychiatry Service (NPS) in Child & Adolescent Addiction & Mental Health Specialized Services. The role involves completing preliminary assessment of need and urgency, providing parents and/or professionals seeking referral with information about the service mandate, model of care and information regarding other support services. The intake clinician works collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure that the child, adolescent and family being referred receives the most appropriate service available in response to the referral request. The role involves case management during NPS care. The position also provides intake and screening as needed for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Program (CAPS) and works directly with the coordinating Nurse to screen referrals and complete intakes. Knowledge of principals of Family-Centered Care and normal child and family development. Demonstrated clinical ability to assess for therapeutic need, provided counseling and support treatment plans. Ability to assess risk and identify clients/families in crisis. Knowledge of network of resources in Calgary and area. The position is currently assigned to the NPS/CAPS but may be reassigned to any service/clinic within Specialized Services as needed.Description:As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:Completion of bachelor\'s degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW). Additional Required Qualifications:3-5 years experience working as a social worker in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. Demonstrated knowledge of DSM V required. Demonstrated knowledge of Community and Health Care resources required. Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment, intervention, system navigation and case management required. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with community partners required. Demonstrated experience working in multi-disciplinary mental health setting required. Demonstrated effective case management skills required. Commitment to Family and Client Centered Care required. Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills required. Must have a calm, warm and engaging style with proven ability to engage families who are highly distressed and dysregulated. Preferred Qualifications:Collaborative Problem Solving Skills trained preferred. Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service experience an asset. Connect Care trained preferred. Brain Story certification preferred.
