Job Description


Role Description Successful candidates will provide a full range of social work services to Clients, couples, and families, particularly following traumatic events such as motor vehicle accidents, severe physical and mental trauma, and brain injuries. Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Providing clinical consultation, assessment, and counselling related to Clients with complex physical and mental health challenges using a variety of therapeutic modalities (Trauma Informed Psychotherapy, CBT, DBT, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, etc.)
  • Regular monitoring, evaluating and recording Client progress according to measurable goals outlined in treatment plans
  • Advocating for Clients and helping Clients connect with community-based resources, and providing resource navigation within public and private health care sectors and the community
  • Preparation and documentation of psychosocial assessments, goal-oriented treatment plans for ongoing clinical services, comprehensive session notes, clinical progress reports, in-session crisis intervention, linkage to community resources, team consultation and preparation of documentation and reports for court presentation
  • Liaising with colleagues, health care providers, clinic staff and management, and external providers including adjusters, lawyers, and other members of the community as appropriate related to Client\xe2\x80\x99s needs
  • Commitment to professional learning development activities as requested by Supervisor and/or the Clinic Director in a manner that is consistent with the duties of the role
  • Commitment to OCSWSSW standards, requirements and codes of ethics
Required Qualifications/Skills: \xc2\xb7 Masters of Social Work Degree (from an institution recognized by OCSWSSW) \xc2\xb7 Can manage a diverse caseload with a combination of assessments and social work treatment \xc2\xb7 All applicants must also have a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license, access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel \xc2\xb7 Strong communication skills (oral and written), negotiation and conflict resolution skills, and problem-solving skills (identify challenges faced by client, make recommendations to support client and family) \xc2\xb7 Registration with OCSWSSW and a member in good standing \xc2\xb7 Member of OASW/CASW \xc2\xb7 Professional liability insurance of $5 million (reimbursed by EDSW) \xc2\xb7 Two (2) years of experience working in CAS/Hospital or medical rehabilitation setting preferred About EDSW EDSW is a private community-based social work practice with a dedicated group of registered, Master\xe2\x80\x99s level social workers, specializing in providing counselling and advocacy services for Clients and their family members following traumatic events such as severe physical and/or mental trauma, motor vehicle accidents, and brain injury. EDSW Social Workers additionally supports Clients by preparing comprehensive psycho-social assessment reports, preparing court-appropriate assessment and progress reports, and preparing goal-specific treatment plans for ongoing social work service delivery. Our role in the Clients\xe2\x80\x99 circle of care is to go beyond \xe2\x80\x9ctalk therapy\xe2\x80\x9d by engaging with Clients in-home, in-community and virtually on an as-needed basis to assess, support and educate Clients and their families to improve daily functioning and progress.
