Job Description

Children's Centre Thunder Bay works together with families, caregivers and a community of partners to make a real difference in the quality of life of children and youth. We are an accredited, not-for-profit organization providing treatment and support services for children and youth, from birth to 18 years, who are experiencing behavioural, emotional, developmental or social difficulties. The Centre is currently seeking to fill the following position:





One Full-Time Social Worker / Counsellor (MSW)



Union Position - 35 hours per week



Benefits, Pension & Vacation


Salary: $37.73 - $45.90




Responsibilities:





The Social Worker / Counsellor (MSW) carries out duties as a member of a multi-disciplinary team within various programs at Children's Centre Thunder Bay. Responsibilities include implementation of the Service Delivery Management System which includes case management, assessment, treatment, discharge planning and consultation and documentation. The Social Worker (MSW) /Counsellor will provide clinical leadership and primary case management for the more complex and high need, high risk adolescents and families in collaboration with other members of the multi-disciplinary team. The Social Worker / Counsellor will play a leadership role in agency committee work, the development and implementation of new programs and services, staff training, research and evaluation, student placement and clinical consultation to other staff and community agencies. The Social Worker / Counsellor is required to work with diverse populations and work towards the inclusion of minority groups within the agencies services.

Qualifications

:



The Masters Level Social Work/Counsellor position requires:


A Master of Social Work or Counselling degree from a recognized and accredited university or HBSW will be considered. Five years' experience in the children's mental health or related field of practice. A Registered Social Work License from the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario. Knowledge of the range of theories applicable to the children's mental health field. Knowledge and experience in working with families and children who require mental health. A valid Ontario Driver's License is required.
