51.03 - 67.05 per hour (Category II)


Overall Accountability


The Social Worker supports and assists schools, students and families through the provision of counselling, advice and direction relative to short and long term attendance difficulties.


Specific Accountabilities


Responds to schools when a student is in conflict with expectations regarding attendance Liaises between schools and families Assists families in connecting with appropriate community resources Makes recommendations and supports school personnel on attendance issues Assists schools in meeting Alberta Attendance Board requirements Liaises with Alberta Learning, Attendance Board and Alberta Justice Maintains statistics and required documentation

Qualifications


Professional Grid IA - Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related field Professional Grid II - Master's Degree in Social Work or related field Experience working with students and families Registered Social Worker (RSW) designation or eligibility for registration Excellent communication,organization and interpersonal skills Proficient with Microsoft Office
