This is a
one-year term position
with the possibility of extension nor placement into a suitable position within the Social Sector, depending on applicant success, skill development, and available opportunities at the time. This role reports directly to and receives mentorship from the Social Sector Advisor, and will also provide support to the Clinical Director and Social Investment Sector Director.

Responsibilities
Overview of Position Scope and Responsibilities
The outline of the mentorship opportunity will include:
First 3 Months - Partnership Focus:
Learn about internal structures, external partnerships, and key governance tables with partners such as (IH), FNHA, RCMP, and other community and government relationships.
Learn about daily administration tasks such as briefing notes, reporting, mandates, and finances.
Travel to each of the 4 First Nation Communities and learn about their services and governance structures.
Next 3 Months - Frontline Mentorship:
Work side-by-side with frontline staff and program leads to gain a deep understanding of how services are delivered and how supports are coordinated across the continuum of care.
Participate directly in program operations, including client intake, case coordination, outreach, and harm reduction initiatives. Some of these programs are off-site.
Develop a grounded understanding of the diverse needs of service recipients.
Experience various work environments and schedules, which may include shift work and evening hours to ensure meaningful exposure to all aspects of service delivery.
Build confidence and practical skills in client engagement, trauma-informed practice, and culturally grounded approaches to health and wellness services.
Ongoing:
Following the initial orientation period, the mentee and Social Sector Advisor will work together to review progress and refine a personalized mentorship plan based on the mentee's goals, strengths, and areas for growth.
Throughout the year, the mentee will participate in ongoing training and development in key areas such as mental health and substance use, trauma-informed practice, the Ktunaxa Nation Framework, and other identified learning needs that support professional and cultural growth.
The mentee will also collaborate closely with the Social Sector Advisor to provide support to both the Clinical Director and Social Investment Sector Director, helping to implement initiatives that reflect Ktunaxa values, Nation goals, and cross-sector collaboration across all five Ktunaxa Nation Council sectors.

Minimum of a bachelor's degree in the areas of healthcare; community development, social work or similiar disciplines - or equivalent lived experience.
Master's degree preferred

Strong writing and communication skills (briefing notes, meeting summaries, etc.)
