Are you interested in supporting the community by helping build an Edmonton where all community members feel safe? This is a unique opportunity to make a difference in the city of Edmonton. This position sits within the Safe and Healthy Communities section of the Social Development Branch and is responsible for ensuring the coordination, contract management, planning and implementation of the Community Outreach Transit Team program and providing strategic support to various initiatives within the Community Safety team. With a focus on the City of Edmonton\xe2\x80\x99s Cultural Commitments of Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:

  • Provide leadership, coordination contract management and implementation support of the Community Outreach Transit Team
  • Establish and maintain positive collaborative working relationships with internal partners, other orders of government and community stakeholders including Peace Officers and Edmonton Police Services
  • Utilize community development approaches when conducting research and as a significant part of strategic planning, project development and implementation exercises
  • Conduct and apply research, analysis and project development skills to community safety issues, including emerging social trends impacting safety
  • Participate in the new development or redesign of services, programs and projects within the Community Safety Unit
  • Lead, facilitate, and/or participate in internal and external committees relevant to community safety
  • Lead/participate in the development of evaluation metrics and assist in the development and implementation of program monitoring, performance evaluation and tools as required
  • Lead the development of social policy frameworks and/or strategic plans, internally and in partnership with external stakeholders
  • Determine and develop appropriate documents outlining formal relationships (Charters, Memorandum of Understanding, Terms of Reference)
  • Produce briefing notes and memos in accessible language to executive leadership and diverse audiences
  • Lead the production and writing of Council Reports with corresponding research and engagement to inform recommendations

Qualifications:
  • Completion of a Master\'s degree in Public Health, Sociology, Human Ecology, Social Work, or a related field
  • Holders of degree in Social Work must be registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers
  • Minimum 3 years professional social planning experience in the areas of community development and social issues
  • Experience in a large/similar organization or public sector is a requirement of this position
  • Demonstrated proficiency in research and analysis of community and social issues
  • Exceptional demonstration of business and political acumen in a complex system
  • Professional experience must include leadership in project management, negotiation and delivery processes
  • Advanced knowledge of project management strategies, processes and systems
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, manage, advise, and set direction for multiple projects
  • Significant strategy and/or policy development experience in the areas of community development and social planning
  • Significant demonstrated experience in facilitating/leading community development activities and developing collaborative partnerships/relationships
  • Exemplary community engagement processes and public communication (public speaking, presentations, social media)
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, including technical and contractual communication, report writing and presentations to corporate, community stakeholders and colleagues
  • Excellent leadership, team building and interpersonal skills required
  • Hire is dependent on a clear Enhanced Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver\'s license (or provincial equivalent). Must arrange own transportation to be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This may require business auto insurance

Up to 1 temporary full-time position for up to 18 months in accordance with Article 18.02 of the Collective Agreement
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekends may be required. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program Salary: $43.325 - $54.743 (Hourlyu); $90,462.60 - $114,303.38 (Annually)
