Job Description

We\'re looking for an enthusiastic social media volunteer to join the CANAAF team! We want to grow our online engagement to spread awareness of alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss. You\'ll take over our Instagram and Facebook pages, create posts, share content, and most importantly, interact with our online community on a regular basis. You\'ll also have the opportunity to create content such as blogs, articles, etc. This volunteer position is great for people in university or college for Marketing or Public Relations, or someone looking to boost their experience in the nonprofit space! Commitment:

• 10-15 hours per month, including social media interactions at least 2-3 times per week
• Please commit to at least one year of consistent volunteering
• Regular check-ins with Administrative Assistant and/or PR Coordinator
• Fully remote, within Canada

Responsibilities:

• Create engaging, relevant content for Instagram and Facebook including captions, hashtags, designs (using Canva), and tags on a regular basis (minimum weekly posts)
• Engage with CANAAF\xe2\x80\x99s online community including liking community posts, responding to comments, sharing stories, answering direct messages or forwarding to team members as required
• Generate ideas for monthly content calendar, including social media posts and/or blogs
• Follow social media trends and topics to boost CANAAF\'s engagement
• Monitor and analyze social media metrics, share monthly results with the team, and take action to improve engagement
• Collaborate with the Administrative Assistant and Public Relations Coordinator as needed
• Follow all CANAAF brand and social media guidelines
• Maintain consistency in content and ensure alignment with brand strategy
• Follow all social media best practices including image descriptions, hashtags, etc.

Qualifications and Skills:

• At least 6 months experience managing an organization\'s social media platforms OR equivalent experience through school
• At least 6 months experience working with Canva or similar graphic design program/application OR equivalent experience through school
• Excellent written communication skills including attention to detail
• Ability to engage with the public through posts and social media interactions with a friendly, professional tone
• Strong organizational skills in order to plan and maintain content calendar
• Knowledge of Facebook and Instagram platforms including scheduling, analytics, algorithm, hashtags, Instagram stories, etc.

Nice to have:

• Proficiency in French, as we are a national organization
• Experience working with nonprofits and/or registered charities
• Experience in creating long-term social media strategies
• Experience with social media advertising and/or digital marketing
• Understanding of SEO best practices and implementation
• Personal experience or impacted by alopecia areata
