The Abby Community School Society is a non-profit organization, located in Abbotsford, BC, Canada. Do you love soccer and enjoy working with kids? The Abby Community School Society is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Soccer Program Instructor to lead engaging, inclusive sessions for children aged 5 - 14. What is a community school?

It is a designated school facility that is open beyond the traditional school schedule to offer a variety of community learning and recreational opportunities to people of all ages. Community schools are multi-service facilities working in partnership with other community agencies, organizations and individuals to improve the quality of life in the community.

Our Community school will be running classes out of SD34 Abbotsford School sites such as (but not limited to):

Successful candidates are expected to work at any locations (schools) listed above and must have a reliable source of transportation.

To inspire and engage children through fun, active, and inclusive sports programming that promotes physical health, teamwork, confidence, and a love for movement.

Position Details



As a Soccer Instructor, you'll be leading afterschool soccer programs for elementary and middle school-aged children (ages 5-14). The programs will be a combination of soccer based drills, activities, and organized games.

Duties & Responsibilities



Plan and lead age-appropriate soccer sessions each week. Lesson plan for the program (each program is typically 6 weeks in length, once a week). For lesson planning purposes, instructors MUST be proficient in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and Canva for creating lesson templates and planning engaging activities. Provide a fun, encouraging, and safe environment for all participants. Supervise and engage with students in physical activities and team-building exercises. Set up and clean up sports equipment before and after each session. Maintain a positive and respectful attitude with students, staff, and parents. Monitor student behaviour, address concerns, and report incidents to the Program Coordinator as needed. Uphold and enforce health and safety standards, including basic first aid when necessary. Fill out Incident Reports as necessary. Be honest and hardworking. Work scheduled shifts. Arrangements for substitutes must be previously approved by the Program Coordinator. (Scheduled shifts are 2 hours in length, between Monday - Thursday, from 2:15pm - 4:15pm and/or 5:45pm - 7:45pm).

Requirements



Experience working with children and/or youth in a coaching, instructional, or leadership role (preferred). Background in physical education, coaching, recreation, or child/youth development (asset). Experience working children's soccer programming Current Emergency First Aid Level C certificate (preferred). A clear Criminal Record Check (will be completed by ACSS). Availability to work between

2:15pm - 4:15pm

Compensation



Starting at

$17.85 per hour

, with potential for increase based on experience and program responsibilities.
