What you will be doing\xe2\x80\xa6

  • Team lead and coordinate the commissioning, provisioning, and Quality Verification of Rogers Linear TV Broadcast services.
  • Manage the day-to-day scheduling and execution of Simultaneous Substitutions, ensuring all changes are implemented over a 7 day period. Liaise with Rogers Regulatory on as-needed basis to assist in responding to any CRTC inquires in a timely manner.
  • Manage the day-to-day scheduling of the Rogers Super Sports Pak. Working with the Rogers Sports Content team, pull information from the leagues and providers on a daily basis, distribute changes on an as-needed basis, communicate with Interconnect BDUs receiving the services from Rogers, and ensuring that all incoming sources are kept up to date.
  • Coordinate all signal acquisition and operational requirements for Live Pay-Per-View Events, liaising on the timing of the events with the Sports Content team, with the event providers on delivery specifications, and with the Video Engineering team to ensure specifications can be met and that events have resiliency.
  • Actively coordinates on all projects related to the video services such as upgrades, modifications, augmentations, new service introduction etc.
  • Manage the day-to-day requirements of the US Adavails ad-insertion platform, ensuring all incidents are dealt with and liaising with the Video Ingest team and the Ad Scheduling team on an as needed basis.
  • Work closely with Video Engineering to select test tools, network surveillance platforms, content origination methodologies, content switching and multiplexing devices, and with OSS to develop appropriate performance related tools on time.
  • Responsible for the ongoing tracking of LTV Source incidents (incidents where the root cause lie with either the originating broadcaster or service provider) with the goal of tracking possible trends that can be reported to the LTV Content team to assist in decision making regarding service carriage renewal agreements.
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of preventative maintenance programs for the video services.
  • Works to achieve a high level of Security on the video platform by minimizing the vulnerabilities and by following guidelines from the vendors, engineering and the network security team.
  • Coordinate and review all MOP\'s (Method of Procedure) prior to any change control activities to ensure impact to the customers is minimized. Senior specialists are also involved with other functional groups such as the NNOC, Engineering, Project Management and Product Management to review and approve proposed change activities.
  • Liaise with Video Engineering & vendors to develop, onboard, maintain and decommission hardware & software utilized by the team.
  • The position is Monday to Friday daytime, though there is a 24/7 on-call support element that must be agreed to.
  • Adhere to all policy and legal requirements under Health and Safety legislation.
What you have\xe2\x80\xa6
  • 6 years or greater experience in IP-based or video operational environment strongly preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge on how the digital assembly components are assembled to form the complex distributed networks.
  • In-depth Knowledge & experience in the design, build or operation of video processing equipment such as encoders, transcoders, multiplexors & packagers.
  • Ability to identify root causes on integration and inter-operability issues that affect the stability and performance of the video services in the production environment.
  • Ability to seek and translate available data from support systems into critical information and opportunities.
  • Knowledge of MPEG compression coding, HTTP live streaming protocols and adaptive bit rate technology
  • Digital video theory, transport, digital stream standards and recommendations.
  • Experience in a video broadcast environment would be an asset.
  • Strong ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a team environment, in an organized, methodical and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to express a passion for the organization\'s customers, stakeholders and peers.
  • Well-versed in the latest technology offering, capabilities and trends.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver\'s license in the province of Ontario.
