Reports To: S'Cool Ski Coordinator

Hours: 5 to 15 hrs/wk (depending on availability and bookings)

*No weekend work required. Hours would be 9am-1:30/2pm daily typically following the SD22 school calendar

Wage: $19.75/hr + SLNC season pass

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have reliable transportation. This is an on site position at Sovereign Lake Nordic Club which is located within Silver Star Provincial Park. Working knowledge of snowshoe area operations Strong snowshoe skills Must have Basic First Aid Certification (SLNC will reimburse for course if necessary) MUST have a current criminal record check including vulnerable sector To take direction, function independently and manage multiple tasks Demonstrate problem solving skills and ability to think and act independently Demonstrate team leadership Ability to function effectively in a team environment Demonstrate administrative and delegation skills Good computer skills (for timesheet completion and schedules) Superior communications skills in working with youth, team members and the public
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: S'Cool Ski Program Snowshoe Guide

To instruct 4 hr sessions with school groups (students aged 5-15) Work with large numbers of participants often up to 15+ kids per guide Work with parent helpers Work in adverse weather conditions To assist with rentals and equipment setup for children Demonstrate sound snowshoe skills, trail knowledge, map reading, flora/fauna knowledge Provide feedback and support to participants in an articulate and thoughtful manner Coordinate with class teachers to create appropriate skill level groupings Set appropriate activity level for the group dynamic and to determine accurate duration
