Job Summary:

The Truck Driver is responsible for operating company trucks to support winter snow removal operations, including plowing, hauling, and sanding. This role requires safe and efficient vehicle operation in varying weather conditions, timely completion of assigned routes, and maintenance of equipment readiness. The driver works closely with dispatch and site supervisors to ensure roads, lots, and client properties are cleared according to company standards and schedules. This role requires availability for on-call shifts during snow events, including days, nights, and weekends.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Equipment Operation and Transport:
Safely and proficiently operate tandem trucks for snow hauling and salt or rock-chip applications.
Safety and Inspection:
Conduct comprehensive pre- and post-trip inspections of all assigned vehicles and equipment, accurately completing required maintenance logs and documentation. Promptly report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance requirements, or safety hazards to the Supervisor.
Operational Collaboration:
Work effectively as a team player, coordinating closely with ground crews (labourers). Rigorously adhere to all safety protocols, site-specific plans, and traffic regulations to ensure worker safety and prevent property damage.
Safety and Compliance:
Consistently adhere to all workplace health and safety procedures (SWP/SJP). Actively participate in Toolbox Talks, complete necessary safety documentation (e.g., vehicle/equipment inspections, incident/near miss reports), and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Technology Utilization:
Use mobile applications (e.g., Aspire, Asset Tiger, Sitedocs) for accurate timekeeping, record-keeping, and safety reporting.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Availability and Reliability:
Must possess the flexibility and commitment to work irregular hours and respond quickly and reliably, often on short notice, as dictated by weather conditions. This includes extensive availability for early morning, daytime, night, and weekend shifts, as well as statutory holidays.
Commercial Driver's License
: Must have a valid Class 1, 2, or 3 is with a clean driving abstract.
Communication Skills
: Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to readily accept and follow direction from supervisory and management personnel.
Transportation:
Must have reliable personal transportation to and from our shop located at 20924 100 Ave NW.
Safety Focus:
Demonstrated strong commitment to workplace health and safety principles.
Assets:
Knowledge of basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
Proven experience (typically 2+ years) operating wheel loaders.
Work Environment:
Work in an outdoor environment, where the employee will be exposed to a variety of weather conditions, including cold, wind, rain, and snow.
