Key Responsibilities
Operate a
wheel loader
(or equivalent heavy equipment) to clear snow from parking lots, roads, and other designated areas.
Safely push, pile, and load snow into dump trucks or designated snow storage areas.
Conduct
pre-trip and post-trip inspections
of the loader to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Report any maintenance or mechanical issues immediately to the supervisor or mechanic.
Maintain awareness of surroundings and other operators, ensuring safe operation in tight spaces and around pedestrians or property.
Follow assigned routes and schedules as directed by dispatch or the Winter Operations Supervisor.
Use attachments (e.g., snow pusher, bucket) appropriately for different snow and site conditions.
Keep accurate records of hours worked, fuel usage, and any incidents or property damage.
Assist with equipment fueling, cleanup, and yard organization when not actively removing snow.
Adhere to all
company safety policies, environmental standards, and operational procedures
.
Monitor weather and road conditions during shifts and adjust operations as required.
Maintain accurate records of materials used, route completion, and hours worked.
Communicate effectively with dispatch and supervisors via radio or mobile device during operations.
Follow all company policies and procedures, including environmental and safety regulations.
Assist with snow removal operations when required (e.g., plowing, shovelling, or site cleanup).
Required Qualifications
Minimum 1-2 years of experience
operating a loader
Availability for on-call shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays during winter storms.
Strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability.
Previous experience operating salt trucks
Valid G driver's license and reliable personal vehicle to drive to work sites.
Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs, bending, shovelling, and working outdoors for extended periods of time in cold, snowy, and icy conditions.
Reliable, punctual, and flexible for on-call winter work.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Personal mobile device with a data plan (500MB monthly) for communication and using our work apps.

Are you available 24/7 for shifts up to 16 hours including weekends, holidays, nights? (we need full availability, you will not be considered if you have other commitments like sports, babysitting, vacations, part-time jobs, school, other jobs even if only once a week. This job is completely weather dependent so when it snows, you have to come in)
Are you 20-35 minutes away from Elmira? We need people to be near Elmira so we can act fast in SOS and emergency snow situations.
