About the Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Small Projects ICI (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) Estimator on behalf of our client, a leading construction and renovation services provider in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The ideal candidate will be responsible for estimating small-scale projects ranging from $50,000 to $5 million in value. This role requires a high level of expertise in lump sum estimating and a proven track record of professionalism and reliability.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct accurate and detailed cost estimations for small projects in the ICI sector, adhering to client specifications, industry standards, and project requirements
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information and ensure all aspects of the project are considered during the estimation process
  • Analyze project plans, blueprints, and specifications to identify project scope, materials, labour, equipment, and any other cost factors
  • Research and source subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive bids and proposals within designated timelines.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and negotiations with clients to clarify project requirements and address any concerns
  • Evaluate project risks and uncertainties, and provide recommendations for cost-effective solutions
  • Collaborate with the project team to review and analyze post-project data for future estimating accuracy and improvement
Qualifications (But not limited to):
  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the ICI construction industry, specifically in small-scale projects
  • In-depth knowledge of lump sum estimating methods and techniques
  • Strong understanding of construction materials, processes, and regulations
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting project plans, blueprints, and specifications
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills to accurately estimate costs and quantities
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to identify potential cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality
  • Effective communication skills to interact with clients, project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Proficient in relevant software and tools used in estimating, such as Microsoft Excel and construction estimating software
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
