Volunteer Summary

Volunteer alongside the trail crew to provide general labor for assigned maintenance projects to ready Copper Mountain Resort terrain for opening. Through dedication, seven 8 hour days (or six 10 hour days which occur in the late summer/early fall) will earn you a season pass. If accepted into the volunteer slope maintenance bootpacker program an email will be sent describing the volunteer schedule and what gear is needed when (helmet and ski/ride equipment/boots/rain gear).


Essential Duties And Responsibilities




Skipacking/Bootpacking Snow fence installation and maintenance Set up and maintenance of ski/snowboard racks Set up and maintenance of hydrant pads Shoveling of snow away from infrastructure Assist the snowmaking department with a variety of tasks Copper Mountain Resort terrain preparation and maintenance Sign maintenance Various other trail maintenance assignments/projects

Functions as an ambassador of Copper Mountain, modeling and sharing the Copper "culture" with our guests and employees. Upholds the most professional image. Continually strives to exceed our guest's expectations and create memories for our guests and staff. This description is an overview of the scope of responsibilities for this volunteer position and is not intended to be an inclusive list of tasks and expectations. With the evolution of POWDR-Copper, the responsibilities of this position may change. The volunteer position must be prepared to accept new responsibilities and transfer others.

Basic Requirements




Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs. Bending, reaching, climbing Pushing/Pulling Prolonged standing Extended periods of outdoor exposure Extreme cold Extreme heat and sun exposure Variation in temperature from hot to cold Skiing/ Snowboarding Level: Advanced OR Expert Must be able to complete seven 8 hour days or six 10 hours days of volunteering by December 31st Must be able to show up on time, with the necessary gear, and ready to volunteer Must be in good physical condition, able to volunteer in a cold alpine environment and efficiently ski/snowboard steep double black terrain Must provide all necessary personal clothing and equipment to perform the volunteer position safely and efficiently Must be able to follow all volunteer policies as described in the handbook Must sign volunteer paperwork prior to completing any volunteering Must be at least 18 years old

Copper Mountain Resort is The Athlete's Mountain. Located in Summit County, Colorado, about 75 miles (121 km) west of Denver on Interstate 70, the resort opened in late 1971. Iit was owned and operated by Intrawest until Dec. 2009, when operations were transferred to Powdr Adventure Lifestyle Co.



The ski area features beginner slopes on the western side of the mountain, intermediate slopes in the center, and expert terrain on the eastern side. Advanced "double black diamond" slopes are located on the two peaks above 12,000 feet (Copper and Union Peaks), including four expert-only bowls: Copper Bowl, Union Bowl, Spaulding Bowl, and Resolution Bowl. Copper Mountain Ski Resort has 2,465 acres of in-bounds terrain under lease from the United States Forest Service, White River National Forest, Dillon Ranger District.
