Position Overview
The Roof Vacuum Operator Assistant supports vacuum operations on commercial and industrial rooftops. This role involves assisting with the setup, operation, and maintenance of industrial vacuum systems used to remove debris, dust, and hazardous materials from roofing surfaces. It's a physically demanding job that requires working at heights and in various weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the lead vacuum operator with the setup and operation of the vacuum equipment
Perform vacuuming of roof surfaces to remove gravel, dust, and debris
Transport and organize tools, hoses, and safety gear on-site
Help install and dismantle temporary equipment (e.g., ladders, scaffolding)
Clean and prepare job sites before and after vacuuming operations
Remove old roofing materials and assist with disposal
Maintain vacuum equipment and ensure proper functioning
Follow safety protocols, especially when working at heights or in confined spaces
Support general labor tasks such as packing equipment and site cleanup
Qualifications
1-2 years of experience in roofing or industrial cleaning preferred
Familiarity with vacuum systems or willingness to learn
Comfortable working at heights and in outdoor environments
Physically fit: able to lift 50+ lbs and perform labor-intensive tasks
Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
Strong work ethic and ability to follow instructions
A valid driver's license may be required
Work Environment
Outdoor job sites with exposure to sun, rain, wind, and rooftop conditions
Requires climbing, lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces
Use of safety equipment such as harnesses, gloves, and helmets
